Hello world!
Global Scholars Canada’s newest Board Member

James brings a unique blend of industry leadership and academic expertise to the Global Scholars Canada board. Originally from Waterloo, Ontario, he earned his undergraduate degree in Computer Science and Accounting at the University of Waterloo where he was involved in the design of the first local area network for the Macintosh. After obtaining his CPA designation he moved to Calgary, working in leadership roles spanning the oil and gas, telecommunications, and railway industries, where he remains highly sought after for his expertise in train control safety systems. Throughout his career, one core theme has been developing leaders. James takes great delight in seeing those he has mentored excel in their respective fields.
James’ research has focused on faith and work integration, leading him to establish Faith at Work Network Canada, where he currently facilitates a national dialogue on faith and work. In this role, he has authored numerous Bible studies, devotionals, and publications exploring the intersection of faith and professional life.
After over 30 years in Calgary, in 2022, James moved to Edmonton to start a new chapter in his life as an Academic, working as an Assistant Professor at the Leder School of Business at The King’s University, where he teaches courses in organizational behavior and finance. He also serves as Adjunct Professor at Kairos University. His current research examines the changing nature of work, covenant versus transactional leadership, faith-based Employee Resource Groups, and faith work integration. His commitment to faith in the academy will be further demonstrated through his upcoming publication, “Faith at Work in the Academy,” scheduled for release in fall 2025.
James brings extensive board governance experience, having served on the boards of Navigators of Canada, Open Road Chapels, and CBMC, and as Board Chair of Brentview Baptist Church. His professional credentials include a Doctor of Ministry (DMin), Certified Professional Accountant (CPA), and Project Management Professional (PMP) designations.
Welcome, James!
